My lada niva


The car had no power so I took the head off and machined off
1 mm, when I was putting it togheter I notice the chain was
mounted 2 teeth wrong by previous owner/mechanic, no wonder
it was no power in it. And the mixture control screw was missing.
It used extremely much fuel, and the owner had to use choke under 1500 rpm.

The gearbox in all it`s parts. My niva jumped out of 1,2, and 3rd gear and made
lots of noice. And one day it was stuck in 4th after a violent jump out of 3rd. The shiftforks was
very bad and some of the bearings to. I replaced 7 bearings, 1 shiftfork(welded the other),
detent springs/balls and gasket`s

Almost finish, I overfilled with oil so fifth gear got more to work with. It is not recommended
to put in both the gearbox`es alone but after 3 hours i was on the road. And the gearbox was
better than new (SKF bearings).

No wonder it made a lot of noise.
Four bearings was made by SKF, here are the part numbers:
6306 NR (the most worn)
613441 (2 stk)
NJ 205 ECP (5 speed only)
